Placing Off Season Sports Gear In Storage

Hi there, my name is Becky Strichertz. Welcome to my website about placing off season sports gear in storage. When I was playing sports through college, I placed myself on every team I could to learn all about the sports world. I hoped to develop a strong reputation as a sports star at my school. Not long after my first year, my apartment was filled to the brim with gear. I decided to place the items in storage during the off season. I will explore this topic in great detail on my site. I invite you to tag along to learn about this fun subject.

The Best Self Storage Units

When it is time to find a place for your long term storage, you want to make sure the facility is top notch. There are likely to be many different self storage facilities in your area, and you are going to have to pick between the very best. The first thing that is important is that you are looking at the best facilities. You do not want to be putting your items in a storage facility that has a reputation for bad service. When you start looking at the very best storage unit facilities here are a few different things that you need to ask about.

Pest Control

One of the first things that you want to discuss with the property manager is the efforts that are put forward each month in regards to pests. As you can imagine, rodents or insects could do a lot of damage if left unchecked. Talk to the manager and see if the facility is sprayed for insects and rodents on a regular basis. You may just be surprised as to how often they spray for pests. Lastly, when you are inspecting the actual storage unit, look for any dead insects or rodent fecal pellets just to be sure that you are getting a pest free storage unit.

Water

There are a few different types of water that you need to watch out for in a storage unit. The first type of water that you want to be weary of is rainwater. If the area has a downpour you want to have the confidence in your storage unit to keep the rain out of the unit. Often the best units will be on an elevated slab that will protect your items from a few inches of rain. The second type of water that you need to be weary of is condensation. If the unit is not climate controlled and it goes from cold to warm, the moisture in the air can condense and be found collecting on your items. To help battle this type of water, be sure to put a few silicone sticks in your unit.

Security

Ask the manager about the security measures that are taken to protect your belongings. Most of the very best companies are going to have security cameras, a barbed wire fence, and fantastic locks protecting their clients belongings. You will not want to have to worry about your belongings.
